Re-Recording & Mastering

Re-Recording & Mastering
The Inscape Studios Ltd.

Finding and exploring the magic in creativity whilst also demystifying its craft.

This week it is just the two of us, as we return battered and bruised from England’s Semi-Final World Cup defeat…not that we’re bitter or anything.

ANYWAY…this week we are talking about a new trend that we have been noticing in the industry; re-recording, and releasing, older material. This isn’t anything new, we’ve seen it throughout music history, especially when it comes to alternate versions such as acoustic albums, orchestral collaborations and mash ups. The most prominent example of this may be Taylor Swift re-recording her catalogue due to contractual reasons. However, we’ve seen 3 albums re-released in 3 different ways, just this year alone. And, that’s only on our radar, let alone all the examples that are not on our radar. We chat through the validity of these re-records versus the commercial incentives and, what we can take from these examples as upcoming/independent artists.

Please do get in touch if you have any questions or thoughts based on what we’ve spoken about, as we’d love to hear from you!
